Jamie Varner Returning To the Octagon!Posted by danb Well it’s official. Nearly one year after his last fight against Donald Cerrone, WEC lightweight champ and BORN STRONGER Fight Team member, Jamie Varner will be entering the octagon to defend his title. Varner will fight interim title-holder Ben Henderson at WEC 46 in Sacramento’s ARCO Arena. The January 10th bout will finally unify the WEC Lightweight Championship. In his last fight, Varner won a controversial decision against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Varner took an inadvertent knee to the head in the last round and was unable to continue. Many people said Varner was looking for a way out of the fight despite being ahead on all cards. However, it was an injured hand that never healed properly that kept Varner from fighting over the past year. There were even rumors of the injury forcing Varner into early retirement. The Henderson fight will finally allow “The Worm” to put his naysayers to bed and prove his worth. Co-headlining the card will be Urijah Faber in his return to the octagon. Faber hasn’t fought since WEC 41 when he lost his title via unanimous decision to Mike Brown. He will be fighting Raphael Assuncao. Check back with us often for the latest MMA news and UFC news. |
