Team Rampage Finally Gets a W.

TUF poster of marcus big baby jones

Wow. That’s all I really have to say. For those of you who saw the latest episode of The Ultimate Fighter last night you know exactly what I mean.

After getting pummeled for the first seven weeks of the season, Rampage Jackson’s boys put Marcus “Big Baby” Jones into the octagon against Team Rashad’s, Mike Wessel. For weeks we’ve been hearing the guys in the house ramble on about Big Baby’s tremendous strength and size. However, after seeing fighter after fighter fall to Rashad Evans’ boys, a lot of us were thinking it might be all hype.

Oh, how we were wrong.

Mike Wessel (a UFC veteran) came out swinging looking to take Big Baby out with one big shot. But after getting caught in a clinch, he made the fatal mistake of trying to trip Marcus and work the ground n’ pound. Marcus shook Wessel off like he was a mere mosquito and quickly reversed the takedown attempt. Within seconds Marcus caught the UFC vet in a vicious arm bar. It all happened in the blink of an eye. Team Rampage gets their first win of the season.

A quick pan of the other fighters revealed their awestruck faces. For a second it actually looked like Dana White’s jaw needed to be picked up off the floor and surgically reattached.

Even Rashad Evans showed his amazement by saying, "Big Baby pulls off the quickest armbar I've ever seen. I still don’t know where it came from. I don't even know where he grabbed the arm. ... Big Baby, he's no joke."

After the bout Rampage sat down with Dana White and Rashad to determine who would square off in the quarterfinals. After some back and forth bickering between the two coaches (nothing new there!) the final fights broke down like this:

•  Roy Nelson (Team Rashad) vs. Justin Wren (Team Rashad)
        • Brendan Schaub (Team Rashad) vs. Jon Madsen (Team Rashad)
        • James McSweeney (Team Rashad) vs. Matt Mitrione (Team Rashad)
        • Darrill Schoonover (Team Rashad) vs. Marcus Jones (Team Rampage)

Will Big Baby be able to earn Team Rampage another victory? Tune in next week!
