Fedor Wins But Questions Continue

fedor with title belts

Fedor Emelianenko is a great fighter. There isn’t a MMA fan on the planet that would argue otherwise. But how great is he? Is he the best of all-time or a very good fighter who hasn’t squared off against top competition? One would think that a second round KO of the previously undefeated Brett Rogers would silence many of Fedor’s critics. On the contrary, they seem to be getting louder.

Many of his detractors say Rogers lost the fight more than Fedor won it. Others point out that it was Fedor who looked beat up after the fight and not Rogers. No question this was due to the gash Rogers opened up on Fedor’s nose. (Previous reports of Emelianenko’s nose being broken during the bout proved to be false.) Even Rogers himself is adding fuel to the fire by claiming he was hesitant and could have done much better.

The answer to this question is simple: Bring Fedor Emelianenko to the UFC.

Sure, it’s easier said than done. Dana White and company nearly signed Fedor a few months back, but couldn’t come to terms with Fedor’s camp. However, Emelianenko’s people must understand these questions will continue until Fedor goes to the UFC. Brett Rogers is a great fighter. But he’s no Brock Lesnar and there simply aren’t any other heavyweights left for Fedor to fight in Strikeforce (or any other league for that matter.)

Yes, Fedor won the fight. But the questions about his ability remain until he goes to the UFC and proves himself against the best.

Fedor

Great post! I just wrote a post called Fedor wins: but wasn't he supposed to? It pissed some people off. I agree 100% with what you are saying. All i want is to see Fedor fight someone that is a top 5 ranked, experienced fighter, not a hasbeen or no name. I think M-1 wants to keep Fedor right when he is so he keeps his ranking and record so they can keep the money flowing. That is what M-1 is all about.
