Making a Difference Through Surfing

Access surf provides surfing instruction for people with disabilities

About a year ago, my girlfriend and I planned a trip to Hawaii to do some surfing.

It’s been something we’ve both wanted to do for a long time. The waves here in the east are nice, but let’s be honest – they can’t hold a candle to the Aloha State.

While researching some spots we should hit, I came across AccessSurf.org, an organization that provides surfing instruction to people with disabilities. After surfing (no pun intended) around on their site, I found their programs are designed and lead by certified therapeutic recreation therapists, medical professionals, professional surfers, and trained volunteers.

What the guys (and gals!) at AccessSurf are doing is truly inspirational. I just had to share it with everyone and get the word out. Check out the video below to learn a little more about them.
